Set the all time total bases record of 457- still exists- 99 years later. Set what is now the third highest slugging average- .846. Second is Ruth, .847 in 1920. First is Barry Bonds, .862, 2001. The two slugging averages Ruth achieved of .847 and .686 in 1920–21 seemed unbeatable.
